Testimonials from Guests at Casa de la Noche

in San Miguel de Allende

Ilena -

Casa de la Noche is a wonderful hotel; we loved our stay there. The location is perfect, just a short walking distance to most places in SMA. The hotel is peaceful and quiet, with a lovely courtyard where breakfast is served and lots of places to sit, read, relax or do some work. Rooms are colourful and comfortable and the staff was always kind and helpful. We would definitely stay again!

Red Traveling Shoes -

This is a lovely, gracious place to stay! The grounds are beautiful with fountains, bougainvillea and lush vegetation. There are plenty of places to sit under the eaves and read or chat with a companion.

Step out the door and you are on a typical San Miguel Street, just about 5 blocks from the main plaza. The way there is filled with good restaurants and interesting shops. The service is very personal and the staff and owner go the extra mile. Breakfasts are great, waffles, omelettes, good coffee. Reasonable rates. Highly recommended.

Sunny -

My sister and I have just returned from a 3 week vacation at Casa de La Noche. Our stay was wonderful. From the moment we arrived at 9:30 pm we felt at home as we were greeted by Barbara and her staff.

The property is beautiful, colorful, comfortable and we chose to stay in the Barbie’s Secret casita, a two bedroom unique home. As we entered the private courtyard and entered the home, we knew we had made the right decision. In all our travels, this was the most at home we have ever felt.

This was our first visit to San Miguel but not our last. We will choose to stay in Casa de La Noche again. Thank you Barbara, Uriel, Ricardo, Mercedes and the rest of your wonderful staff.

Laura G -

Our family of 5 stayed in the Besos Grande suite for 4 nights in October...and it was wonderful! The pictures on the website don’t do it justice...the entire hotel is full of authentic character and decorated with beautiful art and style. The staff is wonderful...and Barbara makes sure that everyone feels at home and has everything you need....from recommendations on what to do and where to eat. The location is great...a quick 5 minute walk into the center of town. When we left we felt like we were leaving our new family and we will definitely be back!!

Myke R -

After many years visiting San Miguel de Allende, Casa de la Noche has become my favorite go-to hotel and here’s why: Beyond the beautiful architecture and courtyard, the quiet side street location and the fascinating history, the owner Barbara and her staff care for their guests in a way that is rare to find. For example, my travel companion lost his U.S. passport en route to SMA and within hours Barbara and the hotel manager were on the phone with city officials, van drivers, airport personnel and they actually found the passport. Also, I had a medical issue and they went out of their way to connect me with the medical system and direct me to an established local pharmacy. This is the kind of attention that you rarely get but often need when travelling, especially in a foreign country.

Casa de la Noche was the highlight of our visit to San Miguel de Allende! We were happy with the place from the moment we arrived! An interesting history, great rooms, wonderful breakfasts, and a very pleasant, and knowledgeable staff helped make our visit a most pleasant experience. It's great location made wandering around the town easy. I will be recommending Casa de la Noche to friends and plan on returning next spring.

William -

This is a historic building with an interesting past as it was a famous bordello for many years. Clean, very friendly and helpful staff and owner. I’m revisiting it soon to see an outdoor concert featuring a notable musician playing in a social distancing venue.

LittleMixico -

I come to San Miguel often and this was the first time I had stayed in a hotel - Casa de la Noche. I absolutely loved it - it's super quiet but also it's huge! You can walk around and will find new little corners to appreciate. It's perfect for people that really do want to get away, read and just relax. It was also very close to everything! Everyone was super nice and helpful and I would definitely recommend it to all my friends!

Naughton -

The rooms are well appointed, quiet, very comfortable, cozy and well equipped. The Casa is within walking distance of everything and the owner goes out of her way to be helpful in every possible way with advice on the best way to achieve what you want to see and more. Barbara, the owner, helps with the best and easiest transport etc. Nothing is too much trouble. She is genuinely caring of her guests, but is not intrusive. Quiet area and nice courtyard breakfast area. Nice food. Absolutely loved my stay there.

Julio -

Staff is friendly and excellent, the place itself is beautiful. Felt quiet and relaxing and very close to everything. The host is very welcoming and hospitable. Will definitely stay there again on my next visit. Wonderful experience overall...

Jenn -

I first came to this enchanted hotel by pure luck, looking through a list of hotels. I got it right because now I stay here! I do retreats at Casa de la Noche and the staff, the rooms, the food is just perfect! The town is less than a 5 min walk and the beds are heaven. It’s so clean and the water is safe! If you’re lucky to get a reservation (now they are always booked up) then it’s your moment to stay in a hotel that allows you to feel the culture but surrounds you with luxury!

Ricard -

Everything about my stay was fabulous!! I was working in the area and was fortunate enough to return for a 2nd stay on this trip. Barbara was so warm and welcoming, she shared some insights of an ex-pat living and owning a business in Mexico that was great. The rooms were very comfortable, the bed and temperature were perfect. Breakfast was very tasty and healthy. The walk to the town's square was very quick!! On top of all of this wonderfulness, the history of the hotel made everything so much more special.

Art -

I had a wonderful time at Casa de la Noche. The art space on site and my wonderful windows in my room as well as the excellent staff are some of my many many special memories. Look forward to coming back.

Pam -

This "casa" is the most welcoming and beautiful hotel in San Miguel. The rooms, staff and owner, Barbe Poole, were excellent and caring during these crazy times. There isn't a prettier courtyard in SMA.

Parker -

Since I live in San Miguel, I don't stay at Casa de la Noche, but it's where I send my visiting friends, and they are always happy. The ambience is special because the bedrooms and common rooms are filled with charming paintings and the owner hosts art exhibitions throughout the year that I like to attend when I'm in town. Barbara is also very helpful to guests who wish to purchase paintings, and she helped me choose one that I will cherish for years to come. Thank you, Barbara.

Fun -

I have been staying at Casa De La Noche for the past 10 years every October/ November with a group of artists. The staff is amazing, helpful, kind and always available to help in whatever way they can. Barbara Poole, the hotel owner, is gracious and kind and always welcomes us like family. I highly recommend Casa de la Noche to anyone looking to visit San Miguel. You will not be disappointed! Casa de La Noche is our home away from home and we are always welcomed back with smiles and hugs.

Charmaine -

This was my second visit to Casa de la Noche and it won’t be my last. As soon as we’re able to travel again I’ll be bringing a group of friends to sample the charm, warmth, and friendliness of the Casa. Barbe and her staff are exceptional in every way. Barbe even helped me to decorate my children’s suite for Christmas, lending me ornaments and a wee tree! I consider this place a home away from home, and when you visit San Miguel de Allende, which you must, there is no better place to hang your hat.

Pamela S -

The Front Desk is ever so helpful!  They will suggest where to dine, make a reservation, and call a taxi if it is not within walking distance.

Every morning one starts out with a healthy breakfast of fresh juices, fresh yogurts, and the choice of one of two entrees.  Barbara, the owner, is usually around at this time making sure that everyone is happy and has plans for the day.  If not, she has plenty of ideas!  All around Casa de la Noche is wonderful artwork, some of which is for sale.  Also, there are several kitchens ideally placed should you wish to cook for yourself.

We encourage you to come to San Miguel de Allende to see for yourself!  You will fall in love with the climate, the culture, the cuisine, and the shopping...and you can buy it ALL as they have decent packing and shipping!!

Norma G -

My time at Casa de la Noche was a refreshing and creative time. The accommodations are lovely, the food is superb, and the company exquisite.

Casa de la Noche provides the perfect place to dream in big and small ways.

Celenia D -

I’ve never had such a magical experience at a hotel abroad. The unique beauty of the place, the special personality of EACH room, the warmth of its staff, and the yumminess of the meals served, all contributed to sweet, sweet memories. I can’t wait to return.

Jayne M -

I had the joy of staying at Casa de la Noche for a week-long writing course. The warm, colorful environment, the incredible breakfast, the friendly, nurturing hosts – all contributed to the total success of my visit. The creative juices flowed and I emerged restored and energized. The setting said it all.

Casa de la Nocha felt like coming home to a place I didn't know existed in my heart.  In the middle of the city, yet so peaceful, feels like walking into a fairy tale. The staff is gracious and endearing. The art everywhere - I just wanted to sit with my tea and take it all in. The city is so magical and this hotel is a nice respite to let it all sink in. The morning courtyard breakfasts - to reflect with friends and make new acquaintances. The group art room with its large windowed walls overlooking the purple trees inspire creativity the moment you walk in. I cannot wait to return to this magical place!

Elissa S -

I have such sweet memories of my time at the Casa de la Noche - starting each day with coffee taken up to the rooftop to watch the sunrise, connecting in the creative loft space for writing every morning, the sweet staff and the delicious food!

It felt like such a cozy retreat that though not far from the town center, once inside felt like a sweet getaway. It was just what I needed to reconnect with my creative self!!

Beverly G -

Of all of the places I’ve stayed in the world, Casa de la Noche is at the top of my Most Favorite list! From the maze of lush courtyards to stunning original artwork scattered throughout colorful and artistically designed rooms, Casa de la Noche is a photographer / writer / artist’s dream.

Early each morning I grabbed a mug of coffee (freshly brewed in the courtyard) and climbed to one of the rooftops to watch the sunrise over the city while a chorus of doves and church bells filled the air. Hot air balloons floated overhead and the purple flowers of jacaranda trees splashed color across the city.

I came for a retreat and stayed an extra week. I can’t wait to re-visit my home-away-from-home in San Miguel de Allende - Casa de la Noche!

I stayed at Casa de la Noche in January of 2020.  It was one of the best trips I've ever had!!  The hotel is beyond beautiful with little crooks and nannies everywhere to discover.  These spaces are fun to just sit, relax, enjoy the ambiance, or for painting, reading or napping! The rooms are decorated beautifully, very clean and spacious. The hotel staff are super helpful. I look forward to returning to Casa de la Noche in the near future!! I absolutely LOVED my stay there.

Carol G -

We had such a great time staying together at Casa de La Noche - trading lounges for evening tequila and snack catch ups, meeting for breakfast, and gathering in the lobby to check out everyone’s daily shopping treasures. We can’t wait to return to CDLN!

Carol G -

I loved my experience in San Miguel Allende. Aside from the history, people and beauty of the town, my time at Casa de la Noche made it all feel personal and part of the scene. Barbara is a keen hostess. Her B&B is centrally located and she has evolved with the local art scene. She was delightfully friendly and helpful. My group of friends and I were able to enjoy a two day art class at the inn and we did remarkably well. So much fun!!

I highly recommend a visit to San Miguel and a stay at the Casa de la Noche.

Jan C -

Staying at Casa de la Noche is like being wrapped in a warm hug while enjoying a charming, historic inn. Each room is delightfully decorated in traditional San Miguel style and Barbara’s hospitality makes you feel like one of the family. Casa de la Noche is the perfect place to stay while enjoying the city’s incomparable sights, dining and shopping!

Casa de la Noche’s welcoming ambiance enveloped me as soon as I crossed the threshold. The lovely owner and staff are wonderful hosts in this exceptional property. Each room has its own personality. The place weaves and wanders just like the cobblestone streets of San Miguel. It's a fabulous location, walking distance to explore all the city has to offer yet tucked away to feel safe and secure in your own oasis. Breakfast is served in a lovely courtyard and there’s a small living room for reading or gathering. I’ll definitely be back!

MM -

Our accommodations at Casa de la Noche were beyond wonderful. Magical, really. I loved my apartment, the Terraza suite, with an iron gated terrace. Morning breakfasts in the lavender scented patio were a delicious start to days that were loosely ours to inhabit… The truly touching closing ritual and festive last night meal and laughter at a long dining table was ample evidence of how quickly we had all connected to form a whole. A whole lot of 'birds' chattering and laughing away before flying off to distant nests.

JM -

I had expected to be able to travel on my own (a bigger step than one would think) and just be and do art. My experience was more than I expected... I loved our evening dinner in the thunderstorm with the soulful music-it filled my soul! It was a great week and an experience that warms my heart.

CW -

I enjoyed the workshop and I liked the accommodations. I loved the gatherings at breakfast and the breakfasts themselves to start the day. The highlights of the experience ….eating wonderful food, feeling welcome as an American and a feeling of sharing the continent with Mexico. I felt accepted and respected.

KS -

The accommodations could not have been better. I loved having a room to myself, not to mention having the whole Casa to ourselves! It was the perfect setting. The area has lots to offer and I always felt safe out by myself or in small groups. Thank you again for offering this escape.

The retreat was just what I needed after a long Michigan winter. The altitude and lack of humidity worked to reduce my inflammation and I was pain-free while I was in San Miguel. The accommodations were wonderful. Except for having meals, we could have stayed there all the time. The staff was so accommodating and friendly. The breakfasts were good and I had delicious and healthy meals throughout the city. The colors of the buildings were phenomenal and Casa de la Noche courtyards and balconies were delightful and cozy. I saw something even more beautiful every time I walked through the site. I will remember its beauty.

MF

I want to tell you how much I enjoyed the workshop.  The setting was perfect and created a warm and inviting space, large enough for us to spread out and find comfortable areas in which to paint.  This workshop was the motivation I needed. Thank you!!

AND A FEW WORDS FROM SOME OF OUR WORKSHOP LEADERS

Pamela Sexton www.fashionperspectivestours.com

We have been bringing groups to San Miguel de Allende Mexico since 2006. We have loved this charming B&B and have satisfied clients. We do Art Workshops and regular tourist tours highlighting the best of San Miguel. We love the healthy breakfast, the charming and beautifully decorated rooms, the Margarita Welcome party they can organize for a group, and the friendly, helpful front desk staff. We are coming back in January 2022. Go to our website and see all the activities we have planned.

Casa de la Noche has been the fabulous B&B that we book for our Fashion Perspective Tours groups.  Our company does Art Workshops, Botanical tours, Interior Decorator tours, and just plain International group tours. Each room at Casa de la Noche has a personality of its own decorated with antiques, pizazz, and good taste.  All rooms have en suite baths. For every trip we take to this destination we arrange a Margarita Welcome Party.  This is a great ice breaker!  The food we order is a great substitute for dinner.  When the party has wound down I always suggest we have a tour of the different rooms.  This is not to see how you unpacked, but to think of which room you might wish to request for your next trip!

The Front Desk is ever so helpful! They will suggest where to dine, make a reservation, and call a taxi if it is not within walking distance.

My first trip to San Miguel de Allende happened in 2018…when I saw an advertisement for an artist workshop in SMA, hosted by Richard McKinley, a very respected pastel painter instructor. As an architect, I have always wanted to visit the Spanish colonial city, because of the architecture, ambiance, location, and friendly people. My visit to SMA was more than what I expected. I had a wonderful time painting, sketching, visiting artist studios, museums, walking miles of the colorful streets, and tasting the wonderful foods of the region.

What started out as an artist workshop turned into a yearly visit to SMA and each trip has been stress-free and fun. As an artist, the things to paint are endless. Since my first visit, I have always stayed at Casa de la Noche. Barbara Poole, the owner, has taken this previous bordello and transformed it into this wonderful hacienda, with courtyards, decks, balconies, and gardens. Just staying there is a vacation unto itself.

Each morning one gets started with a custom-made breakfast. The things to do are endless, and a visit to Atontonilco and a private art museum located nearby are some of my highlights. My affection for SMA must be infectious because there is a very large population of ex-pats who now live there permanently.

Linda Laino http://www.wordsandpictures.lindalaino.com

I have held two art and writing retreats at Casa de la Noche with one in the works for next year. Casa de la Noche is everything you’d expect from the pueblo magico that is San Miguel de Allende, including a killler art studio and a location that is hard to beat! My retreat participants raved about their accommodations and all the attention to detail that owner Barbara Poole and her assistant Barb Mandaville have provided for in the rest of the hotel. They both have years of experience holding art retreats and other events and love playing hosts and seeing to the needs of their guests with characteristic friendliness and love for what they do.
