This is an opportunity to join other adventurous art makers in a pastel paint-out in the most famous art center in Latin America. Mike Ishikawa, formerly an architect and avid outdoorsman, has now become a top award-winning pastel painter in his retirement, including a recent 1st place in the Plein Air Festival of Los Angeles and the Pastel Society of Southern California.

Mike discovered San Miguel while in a painting workshop at Casa de la Noche bed and breakfast last year and brought home the spirit of our town though sketches and photos which he has converted into 10 or so paintings inspired by our remarkable architecture. Seeing his paintings is like going on a field trip though San Miguel.

We will spend our days capturing the sensuous visual offerings of this celebrated world heritage site, and at night we can explore the fine arts of dining, theater, music, or dance, so much a part of the local fiesta spirit. At the finale we will share our artistic journey with a exhibition at the Bordello Galeria, a well regarded local venue famous for local art shows, hospitality, and fun.

This is also an invitation to experience the magic of San Miguel de Allende, the most artistic city in Mexico, recently named by Conde Nast “2018 Best City in the World” for the second year running. It is a beautiful place to enjoy collections of paintings and all varieties of art, to walk romantic stone walkways and cobblestoned streets, to explore the history and culture of old Mexico, and to savor fine international dining and local Mexican favorites.

The cost for our paint-out includes the lodging for 8 days & 7 nights, an orientation margarita party, daily breakfasts, a walking tour featuring local architecture, culture and history, and a final gallery exhibition of our works offered to the public.

Lunch and dinners are on our own. A local art supply store will give a discount for supplies we may need, and our hotel has a dedicated art studio for our use.

OUR WORKSHOP is held in a famous former

old bordello - CASA DE LA NOCHE

….especially known for hospitality, then and now! This will be an opportunity enjoy the company of experienced painters in an easy atmosphere of camaraderie and art.

Participants choose their own room, first come, first served. To learn more about historic Casa de la Noche, check the website: www.casadelanoche.com.
