What do I need to travel to Mexico?

●      You will need your valid passport. 

What about money? Can I use dollars or will I need to get pesos?

●      Bring your debit card as it can be used in any ATM in Mexico. There will be one or two at the airport and there are a few in town as well. Be sure you know your PIN or NIP.

What’s the weather like? Great weather all year round!

Lots of people escape to San Miguel in the winter and spring time because of its favorable history of sunshine and warm days. Night times are cool to chilly and mornings can be very fresh.

Late april and may and early June are the hottest times of year.

In the summer many of our visitors escape from hot humid climates because of our favorable, moderate temperatures and drier air. Our rainy season is generally June, July, August, and part of September.

October and November are transitional months.

Will I feel safe coming to San Miguel de Allende?

●      We think so! San Miguel is a world heritage site, a 'pueblo mágico’, and has been named one of the best destinations in the world! Tourism is the #1 business here and the town goes out of its’ way to be welcoing and safe for all who visit or live here.

How do I get from the airport to Casa de la Noche?

●      We are happy to arrange transportation from the Queretaro (QRO) or Leon (BJX) airports with our carrier of choice - BajioGo. We know your arrival time, especially when there are travel changes when you allow us to help with the transportation bookings.

How will I know where to go when exiting customs?

●      Look for a person holding a sign with your name on it. If you are in a shared shuttle you will wait with the driver until all passengers have arrived. You will then be dropped off at the front door of Casa de la Noche.

Where is Casa de la Noche? is it close to town?

Casa de la Noche is ideally located a few level blocks from the main Square yet far enough way to bea pleasantly quiet oasis from all the bustling activity that makes the town so special.

What should I expect upon arrival at the hotel?

●      You will be greeted by our bilingual front desk staff. You will be provided with a folder with information all about Casa de la Noche, along with the wifi password and a tip envelope. (Tips for the staff are always appreciated, but we ask you to tip for the whole staff at the close of your visit. Individual tipping is discouraged, in fairness to all)

●      The code for the front door will be given to you along with a demonstration of how the code works to open the door. You can come and go as you please without worrying about keys.

●      We have an ‘honor bar’ that will be shown to you along with how to note items you have taken to enjoy during your stay at Casa de la Noche. The cost for these items will be added to your hotel bill and can be paid for prior to your departure.

●      You will be escorted to your room, with your luggage, and provided a key for your room (or the code to the keypad if you are in Cielo Suites).

Is breakfast included with my hotel stay?

●      Yes! A healthy-start hot entree is provided, along with coffee, tea, juice, fresh fruit, homemade granola and yogurt. Weekdays breakfast is served from 8:30-9:30 and weekends from 9:00-10:30. Coffee is ready around 7 for early birds…

Is it safe to drink the water?

●      All water at Casa de la Noche is purified and water can be used directly from the tap. Should you prefer, bottled water is available from the ‘honor’ bar.

Can i use my cell pnone in Mexico?

Check with your local carrier to see what the restrictions areCheck with your local carrier to see what the restrictions are when you are in a foreign country. Often you will need to turn on your roaming capacity in order to have normal Internet and cell tower access. Some plans include this others do not please check with your local carrier to help manage this part of your travel.

Do I need special adapters for my electronic equipment?

Mexico uses the same electrical plugs as US and Canada do so no need to bring special adapters unless you are coming from Europe or Asia

Do you have hairdryers?

We have sufficient hairdryers for all the rooms but we keep them at the front desk; please ask to have one when you arrive if needed.

Do you have air-conditionin?

Most rooms have air-conditioning if this is essential for you please check with Staff when making your reservation

do you have fireplaces?

a few of our rooms have either electronic fireplaces or gas fireplaces; if this is important to you, please ask about this amenity when you are booking.

All suites have TVs and many common areas have TVs, working-girl rooms do not have TVs. Access to tvs in luxury rooms varies. Please ask when you book if this is important to you!

Is it easy to get around San Miguel de Allende?

●      San Miguel is a very very walkable town and Taxis are plentiful, buses are very cheap, walking is good for your health…consisder these options before a car rental, unless you need to go out of town a lot.Y ou can hail a taxi on the street or we can call for a taxi to pick you up from the hotel.

What will be happening while i’m in town?

San Miguel has a very active art and music food and shopping scene as well as being the center of Mexican indigenous cultural festivities. It seems there is always something going on! While you may come for a particular experience. There will be many surprises as San Miguel is a spirited, festive, and Artie locale, unique and special for just this reason. There are lots of unexpected fireworks, parade and exhibitions, as well as barking dogs and noisy neighborhood events so don't forget your earplugs if you are sensitive to this kind of thing.

what happens if i need heath care?

San Miguel has lots of local pharmacies and several private and public hospitals. There is emergency service available including ambulance and Red Cross service if needed. Local bilingual doctors are available and sometimes even come to do house calls!. Visitors are always encouraged to bring their insurance cards in case of emergencies while traveling. If you need special medication, please bring it along with you. Sometimes refills may not be available without prescriptions written by local doctors.

Travel insurance has always a good idea. If you have it, be sure to bring along your insurance documents

●      There is a visitors’ center in the Jardin (main square) where maps and other information about the town is provided.

Is there parking available should I have a car or rent a car?

●      Parking can be challenging in San Miguel de Allende. We have special pricing agreements for guests at a small secure covered parking garage near cdln

●      Street parking is available and there are other parking lots available around town.

Frequently Asked Questions for Workshop Leaders

What is the go/no-go date?

●      This date is generally at least four months prior to your workshop/retreat start date.

●      At the go/no-go date, you can do one of two things:

○      Cancel the workshop/retreat and receive a refund of your deposit less a $500 administrative fee (to help cover the cost of rooms that have been removed for public reservations).

○      Modify the number of rooms in your agreement that you will want for your workshop/retreat.

If I have a Partial House Rental Agreement, what happens if I don’t fill all the rooms that I agreed to in our contract?

●      If you let us know on or before the go/no-go date, we will release these rooms and open them to the general public for reservations.

●      If you let us know after the go/no-go date, we will release these rooms to the general public for reservations.

○      If these rooms become rented, we will reimburse you for the days these rooms are rented, at the standard rental rate.

○      If these rooms are not rented you will be responsible for the cost of these rooms as if you had filled them.

If I have a Whole House 14 Rooms Rental Agreement, what happens if I don’t fill all 14 rooms?

●      If you let us know on or before the go/no-go date, we will release these rooms and open them to the general public for reservations.

●      We will follow our 2024 Rate Planner for costs of specialty spaces that you plan to use during your workshop/retreat at the current year rate.

I want to have special activities for my group, can you help.

We know all kinds of special activities and off the beaten path experiences that can be set up for groups, as well as a great concierge staff for all of the usual tourist activities. Don't worry, we can find the right thing for your group that will make it extra memorable.

Is it possible to organize breakfast at a different time we want to do activities during your usual hours?

For full-house workshops/retreats, breakfast times can be arranged for your preference.

Some of my group have special food preferences can you help with this?

Our kitchen staff has really excellent food prep experience and are great Mexican cooks. We can cater dinners as well and often offer lunches for Workshop groups so you don't lose them momentum midday. Let's just talk about what your needs are and we can see how to support them.

Can you provide transportation services for us?

We team up with Bajio Go to organize shuttle service from local airports and request that you utilize this option so we can be sure to track individual transportation arrangements. This is particularly helpful should there be delays or changes in travel plans.

Well, you are staying with us at Casa de la Noche. We have a dedicated taxi service available for preferred use with our casa. We can also arrange van rentals and drivers for your out of town. Excursions. Commercial vans service within town is not allowed by local government restrictions and we rely upon taxis instead. fortuately san miguel is a very walkable town.
